Mapstation has until now been the solo project of Stefan Schneider, most often the melodic component in the modernist landscapes of Germany's To Rococo Rot. Here Schneider collaborates to stunning effect with reggae singer / dj Ras Donovan on an ep that is as influenced by recent Jamaican dancehall, as the graceful minimalist techno we've come to associate with Mapstation. In fact, this is something new, with Donovan's voice seeming to mirror the insistent psychotic drift of the music, while at the same time referring to the poetry and ragga tradition in reggae. Could be a wild one to drop.
